How Maple Cat Began..
In November 2017, our family welcomed home our second British shorthair kitten, Maple. What started off as a casual Instagram diary soon took off- the fourth photo uploaded to @maple.cat soon went viral on multiple social media platforms such as Reddit r/aww, Twitter, Facebook, Weibo, and more. The heart warming photo (left) soon was trending worldwide, even becoming a meme. It was absolutely perplexing how Maple gained more than five thousand followers within the first week on Instagram!
Maple Cat has now developed into a wonderful platform where we share daily stories, photos, and videos of Maple with his companies Lily and Dahlia to more than half a million people around the world! People all over the world have fallen in love with how affectionate, trusting, and laid-back Maple is as a cat. Instagram continues to be our favorite place where we share how beautiful a nurturing friendship can be between humans and cats. We are so honored and blessed to have such loving cats and to be a small part of this wonderful cat community!
The Plumpy Cats
Lily
Lily is a silver shaded British shorthair cat and our first cat ever. We adopted her at 8 months old from a family who could no longer keep her anymore. Even though she is the oldest cat in the household, Lily remains the most active and gracefully nimble cat among our cats. Her favorite toy is a bottle cap, which she can bat around for hours. She is a very loyal cat and enjoys being close to her favorite people. Lily is cuddly lap cat and loves snuggling on the couch.
Maple
Maple is a golden shaded British shorthair cat. We wanted to get Lily a companion who she could play with. After months of research, Meowmy fell instantly in love with little kitten Maple. He joined our family at 5 months old and now has grown into a sweet, fluffy potato. Maple loves to sleep on his back in uncomfortable looking corners or in strange, almost human-like positions. He’s extremely curious about anything edible and will never say no to a snack.
Dahlia
Dahlia is a black British Shorthair cat who joined our household last. She was a retired breeding queen who the cattery could not keep. Dolly was adopted at 1.3 years old and while she is a bit timid with the other cats, she loves humans! She is always the first one to greet our guests and purrs like a motorboat when pet. Her favorite things are bum scritches, and she will guide your hand to her bum for even more. Although rather clumsy, Dahlia is quite mischievous.
The Butler
seika
Professional harpist, student, teacher, content creator, and butler to the Plumpy Cats. I am the person uploading all the posts, writing the blogs, and replying to all the direct messages. Instagram is my creative outlet that I enjoy as a hobby outside of my career. As of now, I am currently working on finishing my doctorate in harp performance. I teach private harp lessons and perform for events as well. When I’m not obsessing over my cats or practicing the harp, I enjoy traveling, learning different languages and culture, reading a good book, drawing (mostly cats), and swimming!
